Here’s 5 things to know about our newest Wing!
It’s pronounced BECK-ers.
The U is silent but her impact is loud. Her name is heard everywhere: on commercials and on the court, from city to city. She attended Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minn., and earned the No. 1 spot in her recruiting class. It seems like it was a page already written in the plan fast-forwarding to this year’s draft.
The Hardwood Warrior
Bueckers was deemed a protege before the age of 10. The road to scoring success did not come without real life defenders, however. In December 2021, she suffered a knee injury which held her out until the NCAA Tournament, and then she suffered a season-ending injury in August 2022, causing her to miss all of 2022-23. Despite her injuries. Bueckers never surrendered and was determined to show the world that it has only seen a glimpse of what’s possible.
Bring on the hardware
From hard times on the hardwood to putting her hardhat on to getting the hardware, Bueckers stays true to herself. When game announcers want to share with audiences quick accolades about the phenom, it’s difficult to not get tongue tied on where to begin. Well, we can try:

A National Champion at last
The superstar Husky helped UConn land its 12th National Championship in program history with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in the title game win. Bueckers officially wrote her name next to the greatest to ever wear the iconic National Flag Blue. The one-of-a-kind guard may be moving on to something new, but she is still felt in the rafters of Gampel Pavilion as a member of the Huskies of Honor. Fairy tales do come true after all.
